Hauz Khas : The Heart Of South Delhi

Hauz Khas is well known for its nightlife cultures in India. If you’re in Delhi and you crave trendy hang-outs, alternative cafes, artsy shops, independent art galleries or creator owned boutiques, then this is the hood you should be heading to.
Born around Muslim ruins and a man-made water reservoir dating from the 14th century, this neighborhood of New Delhi is home to an unusual mix of residential areas, park and streets lined up with businesses.
Hauz Khas is one of the the best parts of Delhi, it is indeed the party hub of Delhi. Hauz Khas houses prestigious colleges like IIT Delhi and also NIFT Delhi. Due to the presence of IIT-D nearby, the kalu sarai area has become an educational hub for private coaching centres. Moreover Kalu Sarai dwells the Vijay Mandal Fort but this abandoned Fort, once a glory of Kalu Sarai is on the brink of ruin.

There are few neighbourhoods I’ve fallen in love with. They are places that have me feeling at home from the second I arrive, spots I continually crave living in and Hauz Khas is one of them. This place is elegant, with life rolling at a substantially different pace than in the rest of the capital.
This place has a delight hidden in it. Ask people in Delhi about Hauz Khas and most of them will talk about the chic cafes, boutiques and restaurants. Very few will tell you about the Hauz Khas complex and its ruins. It is only a really knowledgeable local will tell you about this delightful gem.
Hauz Khas complex houses a water tank and taking a leisurely stroll by this lake was perhaps one of the most plesant things I did in years. Several buildings like a Mosque, an Islamic seminary, a Tomb and pavillions were built overlooking this lake. These haunting yet alluring ruins add to the beauty and serenity of this place.

After the refreshing walk along the reservoir and the remains of Delhi Sultanate, we headed towards the medley of old and new structures through the narrow lanes and alleys. Wandering down the crowded stoned path, haphazardly tangled wires overhead, jostling with people from all over the world, we concluded our journey.
Thus, all in all Hauz Khas is a very enjoyable and happy place. Every time I go to Hauz Khas I return smiling. Maybe that's why Hauz Khas is famous because this place makes people happy.
